Starting off the first week back from Christmas break, we started the semester by talking about the unreal engine and getting started by just playing around with some of the mechanics. We messed around on the starter world for the first lesson.
After the lunch break, we came back to the room and George started to talk about the unreal fundamentals task, which is similar to the programming fundamentals but this time we had a set amount of tasks to complete on the unreal engine software. In the time we had, we were taught how we can accomplish the first fundamental task by using a pivot within the center of the windmill, therefore making the blocks move around in circles. We were also told what we can do to further the work by spawning other blueprints and making those blueprints follow the player.

Tuesday was a similar day to Monday as we continued with our unreal fundamentals, seeing if we were capable of finishing the tasks so we could keep playing around with unreal to find new interesting mechanics we can use in future work.

Today with Will we continued with Phaser Javascript to keep our mind on the ground of coding with javascript so we wouldn’t forget the process. With that in mind, we were set a task to create a break-out game using 2D physics and javascript coding.

On Thursday, Rich went over 2D physics and the different games that were made.
In the next session with George, he went through what we have done in the first few days and what people have done in their own time. Lots of people showed impressive work with them exploring many mechanics.
